Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bimalendra Nidhi has directed the chiefs of the security bodies to work steadfastly and uncompromisingly for crime control, maintaining law and order and enforcing the rule of law. The Home Minister issued the directive summoning the chiefs of the two police organisations along with the Home Secretary to his office at Singha Durbar today. He also ordered the Acting Inspector General of Nepal Police, Dr Dinesh Chandra Pokharel and the Armed Police Force (APF) Inspector General Singha Bahadur Shrestha to continue with the works started by the immediate past leaderships of their respective organisations. Pokharel and Shrestha were appointed the chiefs of the Nepal Police and the APF respectively on Monday alone. The Home Minister, likewise, commanded the chiefs of the security bodies to carry out works keeping in mind the challenges to do with border security and internal security. He urged the new leadership of the police organisations to become stringent in controlling gold smuggling, narcotics control and checking social and financial crimes. Also, the Home Minister has directed the Home Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi to forward the Bill on Amending the Citizenship Act and the Bill on Disaster Management promptly. He also directed the Home Secretary to immediately finalise the process on withdrawing cases in line with the agreement reached with the Madhesi Front in the past.
