Prime Minister Narendra Modi has on Sunday reached a rural area in Himachal Pradesh along the Chinese borders where he spent three hours interacting with the soldiers. “Everyone spends Diwali with their family and friends, that’s why I am here”, said the Indian Prime Minister trying to lift the morale of the soldiers. “It is because of the Indian army that we, the citizens of India are living happily in the cities and towns. The nation owes a lot to you people”. he added. Dedicating the festival to armed forces, PM Modi said that he had fulfilled the promise he made on One Rank One Pension(OROP) scheme by releasing Rs, 5,500 Crore to implement OROP for ex-servicemen. The OROP issue has been hanging unsolved for the last 40 years until the Modi government took charge at the Centre. However, the ex-servicemen still have their share of problems with regards to the proposals of the Central government on OROP. Army Cheif General Dalbir Singh Suhag, Dogra scouts, and the Indo-Tibetan border police were all present during the interaction with Prime Minister on the festival day.
